So far the year of 2012 has been INSANE. And that's putting it nicely.
Lets play catch-up.
JANUARY
We almost bought a 500K money pit. I had anxiety and we called it quits.
Quickly find another house. Pack it up (thanks to my Mother in-law).
Decide to get rid of our Yukon XL Denali. Try to get rid of it, it breaks in the parking lot at CarMax. Piece of $%&*. 400$ later we sell the truck and buy a minivan. We vow to NEVER buy anything but Hondas.
Jack turns 5! Throw a birthday party. Get strep throat.
FEBRUARY-
MOVE. need I say more? Oy.
My Mom is medivac'd to Richmond. After a week in CICU she is told that she is dying of end stage coronary artery disease (which is a side effect of the years of cancer treatments and organ transplant). Spend the last 2 weeks of February travelling daily to see my Mom in hospital. So grateful I was able to do that. We had some fabulous talks, tears and laughs.
MARCH-
My Mom is released from the hospital to the rehab center. On Friday March 9 I get rear ended by an old man while I am driving Jack to school. But it's OK because our van had a few scratches on the bumper and needed to be repainted. SCORE. 30 minutes later I get a phone call that my Mom had a heart attack while waiting to get her hair done at her hair shop. She is placed on life support....which is against her wishes. oy. The next morning we take her off the ventilator, she wakes up and we are all in shock. She is lucid, talking, asking for a Coca-Cola, laughing, telling stories, etc. 3 hours later she has a massive heart attack while Joseph and I are with her. She spends the rest of the day fighting for her life. at 11:15pm my brother and I (with my grandparents) obey her final wishes and ask to have the remaining machines turned off. My Mom passes away at 11:50pm. Dying is ugly. Our whole family was in the room with her. Her parents, her children, her nieces and nephews, her grandson (Eli), her sisters and brothers inlaw. 3 days later we have her funeral. She looks so beautiful. It was so nice to see soooo many people come to honor her life. There was not an empty seat in the church. So many people were touched by her. Such a beautiful tribute. A special shout out to my amazing sister inlaw Amelia. She watched my kids whenever I needed her to. I didn't even have to ask, she just knew. I am truly the luckiest girl in the world. My sister inlaws are the best.
APRIL-
more strep throat. more ear infections. more trying to tie up all the loose ends of my Moms "estate".
It was like I had a full time job of reporting to people that my Mom is deceased. Being executor is some serious stuff FTR.
MAY-
Have to drive around a rental mini-van for what feels like FOR-EV-ER.
Finally get my car back. HOORAY.
Joshua turns 3.
Jack has to have surgery. Ugh. Seeing your baby come out in a hospital bed, covered from head to toe with blankets, lines running in and out of his body, watching the nurse move his "lifeless" body around, watching him trying to wake up, and cry from the pain. Ugh. Then the Dr. couldn't write legibly enough for the pharmacist to read his DEA # so my baby can't have his narcotic pain meds. Only Motrin. yea that's not going to work. So I have to blow a fuse on them. oh yea Joseph did too. We finally got the meds.
Our 2nd child finishes pre-k *cue tears* and our baby learns how to crawl.
And there you have it. School is out in 2 days. I am so excited to no longer have to pack a lunch everyday. I loathe packing lunch...and getting up at 6:50. I'm going to sit by the pool everyday, eat Cafe Rio every few days, read some good books, and enjoy doing whatever I want whenever I want.
La Phew.

I totally need to do a catch up...I am so behind. Sounds like a whirlwind of a year so far. You are amazing. Can't believe your baby is crawling! Graham just started...at 11 months. I am grateful though. Sounds like a fun summer ahead...enjoy your pool and cafe rio...2 things I will never have HERE!
and P.S., I know we have similar sleeping ideas with our kids...are you aware of the denver situation?? 1 room for our entire FAMILY for 6 nights? I am freaking out. I will be sleeping in the minivan if you want to join.
Oh Heather!!! I'm so glad that's all behind you. Thanks for the details on your mom. I never got to meet her but I remember you talking of her often with fondness. I'm glad you got that time together. Here's hoping the rest of 2012 just gets better and better.

i am freaking out and I'm trying to just send joseph with my 2 oldest. hahahahhaha
It's been several weeks since I've read your blog and you could've warned me! Like I need one more reason in my life right now to cry! But seriously, what you wrote about your mom really hit a chord with me and I think you're the best daughter ever. I'm so glad you wrote that post, even if it made my eyes leak a little.
PS- I love how you said you were grateful for all your sisters in law...I didn't do anything but somehow got credit anyway. Yay!
