My favorite things

Dior Diorshow mascara
I have sensitive eyelashes. I know that sounds completely ridiculous, yet it's true. Whenever I wear cheap mascara my eyelashes break off. It's awful. This mascara is amazing. Seriously amazing. It curls your eyelashes for you. Which is good for someone like myself who has seriously huge eyes and can't fit all her eyelashes in an eyelash curler. I love it.

I have always been a Bumble&Bumble girl when it comes to my hair products. Recently I branched out to try Pureology. I'm a huge fan. The scent is amazing and the conditioner is wonderful because lets be honest I'm a slave to the blowdryer and flatiron. There is no animal by-product in here either. AWESOME! The thought of rubbing animal by-product on my hair makes me want to barf.

I love my BareMinerals. For years and years I wore Mac, Trish McEvoy, Laura Mercier, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, etc. They were all amazing but I am now a Minerals kinda gal. I still love my old stand-bys (the winter can be too drying on my skin for minerals). However during the spring and summer months the humidity makes you feel like you have a mask on. BareMinerals is so soft and well, bare. I love knowing that while I'm at the park my foundation isn't going to run down my face. And I never thought the concealer would be enough to cover the perma-circles under my eyes. Well I be darned if it doesn't. Give it a try, you'll probably love it too.
And I should give Shauna a shout out and tell her how much I love my new facial regimen. You're the best. My skin looks fabulous these days.

So I don't actually own this yet. I was in the process of purchasing it when child #2 decided he had had enough of sitting in the stroller while Abbey and I perused Sephora. After spending my college years living in a tanning bed, I will always long for the perfect tan. This stuff does a great job providing a healthy, non streaky, non stinky alternative to The Mystic tanning booth, a tanning bed or stinky self tanners. This stuff smells AMAZING. The tint is just perfect and even better, it washes off at the end of the day. I will be going back to purchase this.

Now all of you tell me your favorite things.

Pictures and a little diddy

excuse the quality these are from my phone camera

Yesterday we came home after picking up some things from Wegmans for dinner. Jack was on the porch and Abbey kept opening the screen door. I asked her to pick inside or outside. She said "looks like Jack wants to come in Mom" so she tried furiously to open the door. Except she was pushing out instead of to the side to slide it open. And this is after I asked her 5x to stop. And what do you know. She pushed the door off the track and the door fell on Jack. The screen ripped in half over Jack's head. AWESOME! *insert eyeroll* Jack laughed. He thought it was great. I, on the other hand did not.

Our weekend

And poor Jack was cut out by the old guy taking the picture.

He is thrilled obviously.
Can you tell how excited she is?!

Saturday morning we woke up and decided to go to the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum. We are trying to be better about taking the critters to do more fun things around here. They (and we) are tired of the same old places. It was fun to see all of the WWI, WWII, Cold War, Korean, Vietnam era planes. Abbey just wanted to know when she was going to be able to go and fly on the planes. The Space shuttle Enterprise is also at the museum. Jack just wanted to run all over the place. We took the kids home and napped. Then we went to Burke Lake with our friends Mandy and Christian. We rode on john boats, took the little train and rode the carousel. It was a great day!

And to make the day even better Joseph had the cleaners come and clean our house for Mother's Day and we went out to dinner at Papa Razzi in Georgetown with some friends.

Rainy Day baking

In an effort not to break the bank while it continues to pour down rain Abigail and I decided to bake some banana bread to curb our appetites and have some indoor fun. Abbey is quite the little baker. She loves to help cook and be in the kitchen.
Mimi's Banana Bread
my grandmothers recipe
1 stick butter softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1.5 cups flour
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup over ripe banana mashed
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Add rest of dry ingredients. Mix well. Add banana and sourcream. Mix. Makes one loaf. Grease loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
(I can usually get 2 loaves out of this recipe)
