So we have been house hunting for the past month and a half. maybe more.
We are preapproved, savings ready to be drained... ready to go. So what's the big deal you say?!
Finding a house!

Finding a house!
I don't want to move farther west/south and have to wait on a builder to finish. Or live in a county where the housing market will be the 1st to tank.
I don't want to live in a cookie cutter neighborhood where the houses are 4ft apart and have no back yard.
I have real boys. They run, yell, make messes and HAVE to get "the energies out" as Jack likes to put it.
I don't want to buy a house built in 1978.
Joseph is not going to pay listing price for anything. He drives a HARD bargain.
Our most recent bid on a house resulted in the owners countering and asking to have the home inspection removed from the contract.
YEA RIGHT.
We suspected water damage/drainage issues and clearly our fears were right.
So now I feel like putting my cash back under the mattress and waiting another 100years.
My patience for going to see houses everyday is wearing thin.
I'm over it......almost.
The 1st house we fell in love with goes to auction on Wednesday. If the bank retains it, I'll be calling the bank the next day! Wheeeeeee.

To be honest Heather owning a house is so overrated. I don't get what the big deal is? Owning a house means what? My advice, by a short sale or bank owned home, that's the only way you'll ever get a head-but be prepared in pouring mounds of money into it and never seeing a penny in return. We bought our house when the market was "down", we were told prices couldn't get any lower, that was a lie, our house has dropped 20 thousand dollars in price, now we are selling it and in order to do that we have to fork over 20 thousand dollars in fees(that's on top of the price drop) or do a short sell. We are cutting our loses and walking away. Good bye down payment, Good bye the 3,000 dollars that we put into the home and Good bye good credit! We've realized after owning 2 homes that we NEVER want to own again!
The great thing about renting is, if you don't like the house or where you live you can move!
I hear ya sister...but TRY 2 YEARS! Ok, well almost 2 years..we have been looking for the next thing and we have kept looking and looking and looking until here we are building...just starting the LONG process. It will be nice to have what we want...but we are totally crazy, let's sell our house, have a baby and build a house all at the same time...what great planning we have.
hope your hunting is shorter and your dream house comes up soon!!!!
It felt like it took us forever to find what we wanted or even something that we felt good about. I thought that it would be so easy and fast for how many deals and foreclosures there are right now, but it just didn't happen that way. You will find the right one and when you do it will feel sooooo good! Can't wait to see if that first one works out for you!!
I feel your pain! It is definitely a frustrating process--but don't let it get to you! When it's right, things have a way of working themselves out. We were so stressed with all the house offers we lost, but in hindsight, it was a blessing. The house we are in now is so much nicer than any of the houses we "lost." Good luck to you!
Hang in there, Heather! Here are my thoughts...
I've loved owning a home! Sure, it requires money and updating and upkeep... but it's YOURS!!! And the market wont be so crappy forever! If it's any consolation... we just got rejected on yet another offer we put on a house. And we're STILL waiting to hear from the bank on our offer for that short-sale home. It is taking forever! I know Foreclosures and Short-Sales seem like the way to go, but there is something to be said for quick responses and quick closing dates! (We're thinking the latter is by far the way to go!) Good Luck!!!Keep me posted!
